Join photographer Amy S. Dane as she follows in the footsteps of early explorers who made their way from East to West traveling by caravan of camels laden with silk, jewels, spices, and tea.

Starting her journey in Almaty, Kazakhstan, backtracking through the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region of China, continuing through Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and finally Turkmenistan, Dane soaked in the varied landscape of desert, snow covered mountains, rural areas with animal auctions and cities dotted with blue tiled mosques. She lures the viewer through local bazaars and markets, town squares and quaint alleys to meet the people who inhabit this vast region. Their faces tell their stories. You'll be greeted by people of all ages and cultures, many flashing smiles of gold teeth, as they work, socialize or enjoy their local parks and festivals.
